One of the best theaters in town. Used to be one large auditorium which opened September 3, 1970. A second screen opened March 29, 1974 and was later cut up into smaller ones.

How is Robert by the way?
I don’t know, hopefully he was a real theatre dawg and is on CT smiling that someone found his name. Really,Robin gave me a stack of old PLITT memos and wow,all the theatres had the managers names on them. A few theatres aren’t on CT. like the Westgate in Spartanburg,S.C., SPRINGS THEATRE in Ocala, MALL theatres,Johnson City,TENN. Camelot Theatre in Myrtle Beach, and SUNILAND in N. Miami. Maybe they have new names,i don’t know and can’t know all about theatres.
Hey,TSLOEWS i left you a post on the MONSTER RAMA DRIVE-in Site. Make fun of my late shows will you!
Oh yeah I will.
Well I know the manager who named the Camelot Theatre in Greenville, SC, he was Paul Cook. He managed the camelot until he left to open the Bijou Cinemas in June of 76. I was his projectionist at the Bijou and he was my Father in law.
This theater was likely built by the Wilby-Kincey chain who were the designated Paramount operating partner for this area. Wilby-Kincey then ABC then Plitt.
Cineplex Odeon managed the theater till the early 1990’s.. Paul Cook and I spoke often.. He was the greatest cinema mgr of all time. What a showman. I knew he managed the Ravioli in Myrtle Beach back in the 60’s. I always thought it was named after the movie CAMELOT.. but now I know different. Please tell him Gary said hello. Thanks!
I liked Robbie Presnell.. Last I heard he lived in beautiful Tampa Fla. About 18 years ago. And as for Paul Cook’s Bijou Cinema that was the crown jewel of the Litchfield (as in Beach) theater circuit.
This opened with one screen on September 3rd, 1970 and the 2nd screen opened on March 29th, 1974. Grand opening ads in the photo section.
