Regal Cape Cod Mall 12

Located in the Cape Cod Mall Shopping Center. Hoyts Hyannis Cinema 12 was opened in 1999. I grew up with this theatre, went on my first date there too. It’s a more recent multiplex, but I still have a lot of memories there. It was closed by Regal Entertainment Group in early-2025, but there were hopes it would reopen later in the year.

I enjoyed going here much more when it was still a Hoyts. It was the first stadium seating theater on the cape, built when the Cape Cod Mall was rennovated in 1999, and was my favorite hangout for several years. In 2003, I went on a two week trip to Europe. When I left it was still the familiar Hoyts Hyannis, when I came back, it was a Regal. Too bad Hoyts went out of buisness, the service, prices, and quality of the moviegoing experience were much better under then. It now has a much more “commerical/ big business” feel and has deteiorated rapidly. They recently repainted a lot of the theater interiors and hallways from their peeling red and blue (Hoyts colors) to Teal (a Regal Color.)

I went to this theater last week when I was on vacation in Cape Cod. Only 9.25 admission at night as opposed to Regal’s Atlas Mall location in Queens, New York where the top ticket is 11 dollars. I guess location really counts.

This theater recently closed, but plans are afoot to reopen it this summer:

Opened in December 1999 as a replacement of the four-screen Cape Cod Mall Cinema Center. After Regal closed the theater in January 2025, Entertainment Cinemas took over the theater who reopened the theater several months later.
