This theatre is located in the heart of downtown Duncan, and opened as the Palace Theatre on October 10, 1921. The main auditorium is really nice, but the twin isn’t much. Inside the lobby there’s an old photograph of how the theatre looked in its glory days pre-1940. Wow, was it something! It’s kind of plain these days. The twin theatre is a next door building that has been converted. This theatre plays first run movies and had excellent picture and sound quality. There’s nothing really fancy here, but it is a really nice theatre!

Original design of the Palace Theatre was French themed. When a new marquee replaced the old bronze and glass canopy, the look was updated to 1940s Moderne. Gleeming enamaled paneling sheathed the facade in 1963, bringing about a fresh new look.

A 1987 photo of the Palace Twin after someone decided to cover up a nice red brick building with some ugly paneling.

The Palace Theatre opened about the same time the building was built in 1922 at 926 West Main in Duncan. The Paul Hotel is seen in the 1940 picture posted. The Palace is still showing shows as of this post.
