The Western Gallery.
This gallery, like its eastern counterpart went back towards Rundle Street and the Grand Dress Circle Foyer. The theatre entrances were via flights of stairs at each end of a second narrower vaulted gallery at the head of the Grand Staircase which looked down over a ballustrade onto the Back Stalls (Orchestra level) seats, though this was hung with velvet curtaining and rarely seen except by curious boys like me who crept behind them whenever the opportunity arose. I was too much in love and awe with this magnificent theatre ever to cause annoyance to the unsuspecting patrons below.
