The Richmond Twin Theatres, shown here in 1971, were located on the property where the Sears/Richmond Centre parkade now stands. On the playbill when this photo was taken are “Till Death Do Us Part” (1968), a British comedy based on the BBC sitcom of the same name, a biker movie double feature, “Hell’s Belles” (1969) and “Angel Unchained” (1970), and a children’s matinee, “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). Coming soon is “The Barefoot Executive” (1971), featuring Disney star Kurt Russell. (City of Richmond Archives photo 1983 7 1)

In the photo above, Hell’s Belles and Angel Unchained (which both appear to be exploitation movies) and The Wizard of Oz are playing in the Richmond Theatre, the larger of the two screens (with 700 seats) at Richmond Square, while Till Death Us Do Part (the correct name of the film) and the forthcoming Barefoot Executive are playing in the smaller Islander Theatre (478 seats).
