Box-office takings were naturally affected by the Depression and many exhibitors – such as Western Suburbs Cinemas – though that lower admission prices may increase attendances and profitability. Many in the Industry were not in accord with that approach, and one shilling for an adult admission was widely considered to be an absolute minimum charge.
