“I’m the self proclaimed “Car Crazy” Historian of The Bender Body Company of Cleveland Ohio and Elyria Ohio. At the time, this was the largest motor coach in the world. Built for the Nairn Transport Company, the tractor is a Marmon-Herrington Six Wheel Drive that was re-bodied by Bender. I’m still working out some of the other details as there is conflicting info out there. The factory photo is dated November 26th 1933 and was taken in front of the Palace Theater in Cleveland. The factory photo is proof that there was at least one of these Caravans built. The trailer or Coach had two levels, air-conditioning, seated 32 passengers and a crew of five. It appears that the coach or coaches were eventually commissioned by the Royal Air force to be used in the desert during WW2. I have found photos of the coaches in different operating conditions.”
