“CIRCLE DRIVE-IN on the Scranton-Carbondale Superhighway is the outdoor cinema showcase of the Lackawanna Valley being one of two Route 6 drive-ins still in business. The superhighway opened with the North Scranton Circle in 1940 as a US 6 bypass of the old road that followed the main streets of the valley’s coal patch towns of Jermyn, Archbald, Blakely, and Dickson City. The drive-in opened just north of the circle in 1949.”
