(2017) 66 years ago this week, floodwaters plagued much of Kansas. The Marais des Cygnes River crested at 42.97 feet at Ottawa during the 1951 Flood. Shot at Third and South Main looking north, this photo captures the water as it begins to recede. 665 homes and 243 businesses flooded in Ottawa; 160,000 acres in rural Franklin County also flooded.
