I had been to this theater a few times back in the day, but I feel just in the past year I really discovered a love for it. Going to late night horror films then walking out into that creepy secluded lot in the dark was such a cool feeling. That location was so perfect. I miss this place tremendously already. It had character, which is more than I can say for Island 16. It’s funny, many people I know from the area didn’t realize this place closed, but when I tell them they all look disappointed, like a piece of them is gone. All to put up yet another assisted living home or condos or whatever other multi-million dollar development investment.

This is currently Brennan’s, which was Heffrons before that. I saw Poltergeist back in ‘82 when I was only 6 years old. I believe I spent a majority of the movie hiding my eyes or crying.

I heard Walmart was building a store about 3 miles from that property on Route 112 (where the defunct Saturn building is). Why would they put 2 stores in such close proximity? Maybe I heard wrong…..
I miss this theater very badly. For the few months they operated after Island 16 was open, my wife and I always preferred Brookhaven. After it was closed, some of my friends and I wanted to break in to make a homemade horror film, but we chickened out. Now there is nothing on the property other than overgrown weeds and the old sign. Heartbreaking. I would love to see a friggin Drive-In built on the site. Imagine that?? Bring back the drive-ins already.

I remember going to this theater back in the early 80’s to see Brewster’s Millions. I was only 7 or so at the time, but I remember thinking it was a tiny theater. I also remember being weirded out by the Will Rodgers promo at the beginning of the film followed by an awkward collection of money by the ushers.

Many many memories of this triplex. Actually I think it might have been a double that was made into a triple later on. Although I do actually like the new Stony Brook Loews, this one had it’s charm.

I saw Return of the Jedi at Fox on opening day. I was 7 years old at the time and I remember being in awe about how cool it was inside that theater. The line for the movie wrapped around the building twice. My older sister walked me over to checkout Goodskates while we were waiting. Ahh what memories.

I remember seeing E.T. here back in the early 80’s, I thought it was first run at the time (then again I was 6 years old). In the 90’s my friends and I would go see any movie playing since it was only $1.99 for the longest time. I think we went almost every day when Pulp Fiction played. Bring back the cheap theater!!!! Who needs another playhouse!

I just moved into the neighborhood just behind this shopping center and just knowing that it was once a movie theater makes me sad. I honestly hate newer theaters like Island 16. Sure stadium seating is pretty cool, but for some reason it just doesn’t feel as special as those older theaters felt. I remember going to this theater with my dad back in ‘84 to see the Neverending Story. I don’t remember a thing about the movie, but I remember everything about the theater and just the overall excitement of the movie going experience.
