I am very new to this site and I hope the other members will indulge me for a very important request rather than a comment. My name is John Sorensen and I am trying desperately to locate any information that deals with the Bleecker Street Cinema from approximatly 1964-1968. The reason for my request is because in the mid 60s my father had an extremely close friend named Lionel Rogosin. The had attended the same prep school when they were teenagers. In the mid 60s they got together one weekendat our house in Madison Ct. and made a comedy short (about 20 min.). It was a fil about a catholic priest who goes to the home of a wealthy alcoholic to solicit a large donation for the church. There apparently was no script and the entire film was adlibed. My father has since passed away and my older brother got any estate my father left behind. (there wasn’t much in the way of memorabilia pertaining to that period of our lives. my problem is I was to young and don’t remember much of anything about it. I was readingthe comments today and ran accross a piece by “Rudy Franchi” written on Nov.28,2004. He mentioned that he had taken charge of the Bleecker Street Cinema in the 60s for Lionel Rogosin. That is the very first reference to Lionel Rogosin or the Cinema in the same sentence since I started my search. If anyone can help me find out what I am looking for, I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate it.
What I am actually looking for is any and all information pertaining to Bleecker Street Cinema, Lionel Rogosin and the two actors in the films. The first film was entitled,“How Do You Like Them Bananas” and the second film which was a full length film was entitled “Oysters Are In Season”, the actors were Edward (Swede) Sorensen, my father, and Dean Preese,(Excuse the spelling).
