I saw more than 300 indy/arthouse films here from the late 90s through June 2007. Easily the best theater BR has ever had due to the sheer volume of artsy films it screened.
This huge theater was open from December 1996 to December 13, 2007. HUGE screens. I saw many movies there including on closing day. As of December 2013 Tinseltown still stands there empty.
I liked this theater and saw several independent films here including Get on the Bus (1996), the English Patient (1996), Orgasmo (1998), Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), and Happiness (1998). Best art house film BR has had.
I moved to BR in 1995 and enjoyed several movies here, including Jerry McGuire (1996), the re-release of Return of the Jedi (1997), and Home Fries (1998). Was sad to see it close.
Shocking that a state of the art IMAX and stadium theater could close so soon! I enjoyed several films down there in the early 2000s, including Gladiator (2000)in IMAX, and the 20th anniversary of ET (2002).
I absolutely LOVED the grunginess of this theater, which I first went to when I moved to Tampa in 1982 and still found my way there after I moved away in 1995. This theater was dark, cozy, filled with life, and had the BEST buttered popcorn served in the big tubs, not those ripoff bags so many theaters switched to. Of all the theaters I saw close in Tampa during the 1990s, this one bothered me the most.

I remember going to this theater from the time I moved to Tampa in the early 80s, until the early 90s. My best memory was getting my brother out of class at King High to catch the opening of Return of the Jedi. We thought we’d gotten away with it until our dad opened the next day’s Tribune and there we were, captured in a picture!

I saw two movies here, Love and Basketball (2000) and Bad Santa (2003). Was a dump but the price was right and i enjoyed the shows.

Rarely went to this theater as it was on the other side of town. Two films I recall seeing there were the Cotton Club (1985) and Octopussy (1983).
