In 1971 the screen was blown over in a storm. After repairs the theater opened with two screens as Town and Country Drive In. The sight is across the street from the UNT engineering building on old highway 77.
This was the Student Art theater in the 1960’s. I saw PT 109 here. Later was an adult movie house known locally as the Rathole. Closed in 1973 or 1974 after repeated fines for violation of city codes concerning display of indecent posters in marquee.
The auditorium was split down the center to form a twin theater. Later other screens were added. At one time it was the Plitt Cinema 5. Currently operates as Movie Tavern.

The projection booth / snack bar building stands behind the Wagon Wheel cafe about a mile east of walmart.
