Such a shame that the Odeon were able to bulldoze the stalls to add in their extra screens, sitting downstairs was an experience that is now sadly lost, the double rake and the decor, such a shame the past gets buried.
I also remember the ‘Oil on Water’ holding pattern that was shown on the original Screen Two screen before the show, it used to creep me out a little when I was a boy.
Was this actually ‘really’ named Cinem Palace?
If you look at the alternative photo, where you see some of the name, there’s a large gap between the M and the P and on the wire holding the letters the telltail bracket that would have held a letter….perhaps an A!
I’d have money on the A having fallen off and the postcard being mistakenly noted as Cinem Palace.
Kingston Council list it as Cinema Palace…..
