Actually Western Electric did play a part in the Rockingham Theatre. This was one of the very first theatres built for Sound according to long time friend, the late Bill Hendrix. Most theatres of that day were former vaudeville houses.

Actually the Davidson was open until somewhere in the mid-60’s. I remember my late mother covering the picketing of civil rights issues there around 1963 +-.

There is some truth to the location of the original Eden Drive In, which was located between Weaver and Pierce street on Meadow Road. My wife’s cousin even talk about walking down to it after it was closed in the 50’s or early 60’s. Nothing appears to be visible now where it stood but trees. Actually the property would have backed up very closer to Morehead High School and the Mall is a block or so down from it on the opposite side of Meadow Road.

Correction, NightHawk1. Jerry Lewis Cinemas had one location in Siler City, NC. Seems like I ran across a few other locations over the years. One other such franchise was Chris McGuire theatres which originally opens Southgate in Thomasville. You are correct that most of these were losers and closed rather quickly.

I did the retro work in this theatre back in the 90’s. The original was split to a twin and then later the balcony was split from the down stairs theatres creating 2 new auditoriums upstairs.

Chuck, Sorry I haven’t been on this site in a while. Actually Key Theatres, which was High Point based and a gentlemen by the name of Hugh Smart operated the Paramount after a forced split due to anti-trust issue with the Wilby-Kincey chain. Martin Theatres (prior to Carmike)bought the location around 1969. Mary Ruth Connor managed the operation locally pretty much until the day it closed through both companies. She actually retired when it closed.
