I always wanted to see a picture of the interior of this
Years ago this theatre did huge business, I guess times changed
The sad end, they used to have wonderful displays on that marquee
I’m always surprised they never added more screens here
Wow really nice
When they destroyed the facade worried it might get landmark status they also wanted to change the name to ensure no association with its famous past
That marquee was never updated and was there until Friedrichs did the renovation
When Friedrich’s renovated, the theatre was restored and except that the floor was leveled and the seats removed it looked exactly like it had as a movie theatre.
They wasted so much space when they multiplexed this
If this had curtains it would look spectacular
What competition is causing this theater to not be profitable with first run movies? It looks like its very well maintained and should do business.
They had an awesome marquee
Long may it prosper
This theatre always did huge numbers, one of the top grossers on the island for RKO
I hope this makes it
So sad another Long Island neighborhood house gone
So sad one of the last of the old pre-multiplex Long Island theaters
So sad but since Covid people I know who were still regular moviegoers stay home and stream. So many theaters here on Long Island never reopened.
The Promise had a wide break after playing Radio City Music Hall. It was the final film to play under the movie & stage show policy
I love this signage
This had to be for a graduation
What went wrong with Movie Center 5 that it only lasted 4 years?
How come this failed?
Ugly walls
That was a really big stand-alone marquee, looks more like something that would have been outside of a drive-in
