Raymond, the organ console turned to the left, so that the organist could see the screen and the orchestra. If it had turned to the left the organist would have been facing the wall, and unable to see what was going on.

The organ concerts have actually been in full swing since 2008 and are still in full swing now. There is also a new organ being installed in the Empress Ballroom, which was originally home to a Wurlitzer up till the late 60s.
Disgusting that the cinema will be destroyed. Absolute shambles that this has been given the go ahead.
The organ in the Palace Ballroom was a 3 manual 9 rank Wurlitzer (not 19). It is now in Hobart in Tasmania.
Unfortunately the pipe work as all long gone before I bought it. This is all that is left of the instrument, so it makes no sound sadly.
