I remember seeing Dracula as a kid there in the late 1950’s.
I knew the family that operated it as Di Vinci Manor in the 1980’s. They operated it as a banquet and a bingo hall. I also saw some boxing matches there around this time.
Dishes were a popular premium back in the 50’s that movie theatres used to lure people back each week to the show. One week you’d get a cup and if you wanted a saucer you’d have to come back the next week—and so on and so on.
What did you think was going to happen to it??? Get a life Moviemanforever.
What a magnificent interior. Shame.
I believe it was a church for a time in the 1980’s.
Looks like it had a very nice interior. Sad that it’s gone.

I was there in 1969 when it was Le Image and showed art movies. I recall that it didn’t last too long.
Saw Easy Rider there in 1969

In 1966 the Alba became the ‘Alba a Go Go’ and featured live teen bands.
Anyone have a photo of the Avaloe?
I went to the Luna many times in my youth. I remember seeing West Side Story there.
I just posted above some photos I took around 1980
I think I remember my older brother going to the Embassy for teen dances around 1960.
Thanks RSO1000 for the history.
I just uploaded above a shot of the Lawrencewood when it was shuttered
Sad when a movie theater dies
that was one hell of a marquee!
Saw “Star” in 1968 and “Exodus” around 1963. Both movies were reserved seating.
I just added the above photo of the Michigan that I took sometime in the mid 1970’s.
I go by this site every week. I had no idea a theatre once existed on this location.
I had no idea that the old True Value is the site of this theatre. I thought the it was where Caputo’s is today.
Imagine what a thriving town Harvey was at one time with three movie houses within a block of each other. What a shame this town is today.
Love the shots of the small but funky marquee. Too bad the theatre had to die but so did Harvey. I wish I could see photos of the interior.
