I went to the Wells in 1960 or 1961 and saw King Kong. It had lots of empty seats and was apparently used at that time by the homosexual community as a pick up spot.

I saw “Around the World in 80 Days” during its first run at the Uptown. That was an experience that I can still recall with great clarity. It was marvelous!

After submitting this theater, I have discovered that it still exists but that it is closed. It was important in that it was the first suburban theater built in the Norfolk area. 35th street was the suburbs in those days, I guess. I went there in 1961 or 1962 to see a movie but I don’t remember what it was.

I lived in Langley Park and walked to the Flower to see “Scared Stiff” with Martin and Lewis on a weeknight. This was probably in 1954 or 1955.
