The Lamp gained it’s name from a contest held to name the theatre when it was opening. The winning entrant came up with the name saying some thing like, because we have the Aladdin, now we need a Lamp. So, that is the connection between the two theaters. There is new activity for this theatre. The Westmoreland Cultural Trust is still trying to renovate and open it. State and County money has been arranged, but they are waiting to hear from the Irwin Borough to see if they can contribute a potion of the needed funds. A group has formed to support the reopening of the theatre.

Also, the map location for this theatre is incorrect. It is located on the “other” Main St. North of Route 30 in downtown Irwin.
