The theater was actually on the Southeast corner of 3rd and C Streets, where the US Grant Hotel valet driveway/parking garage now is. You can see the back of the huge Grant Hotel in the historic photographs.
The location listed is wrong by about three blocks. The Savoy was at the NW corner of 3rd Ave & C Street, where the ugly San Diego Civic Theater now stands. The Civic Theater is already outdated, showing the short life of modern architecture.
