The neon Drum Majorette can still be seen at the College Grove Shopping Center in San Diego. It was stored after the Alvarado’s demise and reinstalled when College Grove was completely raized and rebuilt as “The Grove” in the 1990’s.
The Grove was an Organ Power Pizza in its very last days.
It finally closed up for good around 1983 or so. They sold
off the fixtures and I had four original seats that I completely refurbished and kept for years. They looked great but were as uncomfortable as Hell. Offered them to the LG Historic Society but of course they weren’t interested so I finally wound up tossing them.

I practically lived at the ACE for years. $2 a carload as I recall. It was pretty much an anything goes free space like the beach was in those days.
