At one time I was searching out old Drive-In’s and taking photographs of what remained of them. I remember it was either late ‘96 or early '97 we stumbled across the Three Bears Drive-In, pulled over and went in. At the time it appeared to me that they had only recenlty been showing films because inside the control building the projector was still up with film still in it, and the concessions looked to still be intact. I did notice lots of concrete/construction equipment parked all around the area. It was not too long after the visit that the area was flattened and the sign removed. I never was able to see a show there, but glad I stumbled across it before it was demolished.
The Chalet is one of 2 local theaters in Enumclaw, but is larger and a bit nicer of the two. They have affordable food (very rare to find these days) and cheaper tickets then your standard chain theater. I try to visit whenever possible, its a very nice place.
This description is not entirely accurate. The museum is next to the theater (is no part of the museum at all) and the movie house has been closed for many many years. About 10 years ago the roof on the back section collapsed and when the owner of the building left the front door open I went inside for a look. The theater still had an old old popcorn machine sitting just inside the front door, the chairs inside are VERY old and I saw lots of daylight from the lack of a roof. My wife grew up going to Paris and she said it was not open back when she was a kid, but she remembers sneaking inside (aprox 1980) with her cousin and she recalls it being pretty much the same. I visit Paris every year so I am very familiar with this theater.
The theater is old and a bit weathered but who cares. I don’t go to a theater to look at the paint or flashing lights, I go to see a movie. This place is cheaper then your average movie house and you can get a big popcorn and pop for less then $5. Its a great place to take a bunch of kids to see a movie w/o emptying out your bank account. Its not much to look at, but I like the place.
