I loved the Westlake, even though when I went there it was $1.25 double feature house.I had the feeling of visiting an old Royal, down her luck, threadbare, but still beautiful.I hope it reopens as a still grand dame!

I feel it was a kind of an honor to go to the Warrens near it’s demise, of course I did not know it at the time. It was the early 1970’s and I saw “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight” and “She Freaks” plus another I can’t recall. The snack bar backing was glass and you could see the movie from the lobby. Beautiful and useful!

One of my best moving gowing memories ever as a kid. Mom and Dad took me to “How the West Was Won” in REAL Cinerama. The early 60’s were not so happy at my house but this cinema treat was amazing.

I loved second run double feature houses and this was one of the best. I think the last time I was there was for “Hamburger Hill” and a vampire picture. Over the years how many war- horror double bills showed at the Oriental.

I saw “The Exorcist” at the National, “Catch-22”, “Phantom of the Paradise”, so many, it was modern and magnificent and now nothing. Really is sad for me to see Westwood Village without all the theaters that made it so great.

GREAT to see The Highland still operating! When I was kid my Nana lived in the neighborhood and when she had a “gentleman caller” I went to the Highland. Saw a weird matinee of “Christopher Columbus” with Fredric March and “Jason and the Argonauts” there, must have been 1963 0r 64.

I loved this venue. The Encore was the first “art house” I attended. They served Espresso, I was very impressed. I fell in love with Francois Truffaut at the Encore. One night they had the studio vault technicolor prints of “Meet me In St. Louis” and “Singing In the Rain”. How could you not fall in love with the movies with a great theater like this?

Loved the Crest near Westwood. Many great dates: “Rosemary’s Baby” “Guide for the Married Man” and a wondrous night seeing “SLaughterhouse Five” are just a few.

I loved the Carthay Circle so much. Saw the re release of “Gone with the Wind” there and the final film it showed “Shoes of the Fisherman”. In a park like setting… all that history. Now just a facade at Disneyland. It was magnificent.

I went to LACC and went to the Campus in the 1970’s when it was a comfortable, albeit shabby, little place. Saw “The Thief Came to Dinner” with Ryan O'Neal when a fight broke out in the men’s room.

in the 1970’s I went to a lot of 2nd run theaters in Hollywood. The Egyptian 1 (the real theater) ran double bills like “Waterloo” (in 70 mm) and"Wrath of God" with Robert Mitchum. It was great. 2 and 3 were dumps, but UA booked great dump double bills like “SSSSSSSSSS” and “Boy That Cried Werewolf”. Also saw “Stop Making Sense” at the 2, awful venue.

I saw many a movie at the Pix including a major studio preview that started late with a lot of nervous executive types there. The movie turned out to be the horrible Paramount Picture “The Adventurers"with Bekhim Fehmu (sp.) and Olivia De Havilland, 3 hours and the regular feature. We got out at 2:30 am.
