I have no idea what that referred to, but I must say that if the Quad were able to rise from the ashes that I would have no complaints. That theatre had the best picture and sound in the Belleville/St. Louis area, and there was barely a bad seat in the house. They just don’t make theatres like that anymore.
This is definitely NOT a defense of Kerasotes, it’s a defense of BAC Theatres. The Quad Cinema was my favorite theatre in the entire St. Louis metro area, mostly because, at the time, it had the largest screen and the best sound system. Plus, it was one of the first to use a seating arrangement similar to stadium seating. I saw all of the Star Wars movies there and even the Special Editions when they were released. I grew up going to this theatre as well as the Ritz. It depresses me just as much that this theatre is no longer operating.
Fact: When Kerasotes took over operation of the theatre, ALL of the theatres were in operation.
I know this for a fact, because I continued to go there quite often after that transition. Yes, later on, the three smaller screens were roped off and only the main theatre was left open, however, I am not qualified to comment as to the reason, nor do I wish to carry on a pointless argument.
From this point on, I would suggest that if anyone wishes to post comments which include quotes, please make sure that you cite your reference from the time that the comment is posted – verbatim. No editorializing. The comment as stated originally can be inferred to be an outsider’s opinion. I apologize for the name change I made, but it is incomplete comments like those above that can unfairly color a person’s opinion about a business or situation. Now you know how it feels.
My frustration with this situation was that the whole story was not being presented, merely a fragment of what happened was stated. Again, I am not the one to consult as to all of those facts, but there are others out there who are.
Mr. Van"Fibber" is basing his statement upon hearsay and rumors. I would appreciate it if comments were not made about the reason for closing unless the information is accurate. First of all, when Kerasotes took over the building, ALL of the theatres were in perfect operation. It is not my responsibility to explain why the theatre was closed, but it is also not the responsibility of others to speculate upon the reasons, either.

Like I said, hearsay and rumors… =)

Thanks.
It’s not the Starview Drive-in, it the Skyview Drive-In, which is still in operation and still owned by BAC Theatres, Inc.
