We had many movie birthday parties for our kids at the mall. Pizza at the food court and then down to the theater. In fact just this July….. sorry to see it go.
I’ve lived down the street from the old theater for some time now. Remember taking my wife there numerous times. One of the last in the area. I watched it torn down and replaced with a housing development. Yes indeed the Carvel is still in business.
Folk singer Pete Seeger was one of those stoned while the local cops watched from a distance. Pete still recalls those days.

Is Gene Liberty still involved with the theater? I remember him hosting Jazz sessions there in the early ‘80’s.

I didn’t remember that C'dale had so many theaters until I found this site. As a student you really depend upon these venues to while away the time. If Paul Enchelmayer ever stops by again, Hi from George Thompson. R/TV ‘67-'74.
I remember seeing Star Wars there. It was close enough that I could ride a bike to the mall or Chicago Health Clubs and see a movie after. (131st and 84th)
Believe it or not, I was the ‘House photographer’ during the 70’s when it had stage shows…. Just a college kid having fun. The manager had me take some of the acts out to dinner to keep them sober until showtime. Ah, yes.
Finally the restrooms are getting a makeover. Plus, the outgoing Governor (former Peekskill Mayor) just put a heafty sum into the state budget for capital improvements.

The late night shows drew a long line of SIU kids, me included….
I think Friday or Saturday midnight R flicks.
Another theater from my childhood. I remember it quite well. High school days. Used to come from Palos to see movies and shop in the mall.
As a kid, I remember the Corral during the late 50’s and 60’s. It was one of the ‘locals’ for us Palos/Orland kids.
