Maple City Drive-In. Kodachrome image taken by Albert S. “Al” Johnson in October 1952. Al’s Johnson Construction Company built the Maple City Drive-In which was located in Charlotte, Michigan.
This view shows the job shanty. A block and tackle is attached to a frame and is being used to raise and lower timbers in and out of barrels of rot-proofing creosote. Speaker posts in pre-cast concrete bases will be wired together and placed in the parking area before being covered in a final layer of gravel or limestone. Under the tarp in the background is a concrete mixer and several sacks of concrete mix.
