The Gaiety Theatre on the corner of Angelo Street and Coode Street opened on 2nd February 1927 with “Silence”. The theatre closed on 2nd July 1960 and was converted to shops and offices. It was then demolished in April 1980. A National Australia Bank was built on the site and by 2024 that building was in use as a dentist and a dry cleaners.
