Stewart & Everett had three theaters in Rock Hill. The Pix, The Cinema and The Cinema 4. This theater opened as the Cinema 4 in the late 70’s or early 80’s.
This was called the Cinema and was known as the Rocking Chair Cinema because it had chairs that would rock. It was owned by Stewart & Everett Theaters from when it opened in the 60’s to around 1986 or 1987 when Carmike Cinemas bought the Rock Hill theaters. This theater closed February 28, 1987.
Sad. I was when the door was locked the night the theater closed.
This theater has not been demolished as someone has said. As of 2025, this place still stands.
This theatre closed because a tornado took the screen and through it into the woods. They never rebuilt.
