Liberty Theatre
Obviously not happy to learn of Golby’s plan to re-open the Masonic Hall as a cinema, Blue Mountains Amusements promptly made arrangements to lease the nearby St Albans Hall and equip it for sound film presentation. They opened there on Saturday 23rd October 1937 - five days before Golby launched his re-named Civic. Golby soon caved, and BM Amusements transferred their screenings to the Civic from 22nd January 1938. Golby continued as the notional exhibitor there, but on 1st June 1938 he sold his Leura lease - and his entire circuit - to a new company: Affiliated Enterprises Pty. Ltd.
