By the time this (colorized) view of the State building site - on the corner of Flinders and Russell Streets - appeared in ‘Everyones’ 21st November 1928, completion was tentatively scheduled for 5th February. The launch actually occurred 23rd February 1929 – still an amazing achievement by the builders: James Porter and Sons.
