I live in Pinetop which is part of Lakeside. WME Village 8 is the only theater in the area and is very nice. Otherwise one has to go to Show Low to see a movie…totally unnecessary.
The Island’s Polynesian restaurant—sorry I don’t remember the Sombrero Playhouse but I have a very vivid memory of the Island’s…my family went there to eat and everyone loved it except me. I got deathly ill after taking a few bites. Everyone wondered why I got so ill from eating the food that didn’t affect anyone else. As it turned out I was in the early stage of influenza and that was the cause of my awful illness. Even though I knew the food did not cause my illness, I was unable to eat at the Island’s restaurant again. Sad but true.
I used to take a young boy that I babysat here. It was only a dollor even for adults…very affordable. The movies were older ones but they were new to us. Good memories…
My understanding is that the theater was not demolished but rather dismantled and rebuilt at another location. I was never able to see where it was rebuilt and it may be closed by now. Does anyone know for sure?
Of the the numerous movie theaters I have frequented over the years of my life, Chris Town Theater is the one frequented the most frequently. I was raised in Phoenix but am now living in Northern Arizona. I just learned that the theater has been demolished and it is sad because so many great memories are tied to this theater. I guess it’s true that all good things must come to an end.

One fond memory, besides going to the movies, was the frequent antique book sales they had in the mall. I loved them.

Hmmm, lived in Phoenix my entire 65 years and do not remember a Paris Theater.
We liked going to the movies here then shopping at the Farmer’s Market.
If I recall correctly this was near a huge consignment shop and a China Gate restaurant.
Saw many movies here, then afterward went shopping. Can’t beat Scottsdale for great shopping malls.
