I believe the Chief Theater became the WALLACE. I lived in Seagraves in the Forties and early Fifties and at the opposite end of the block from the PIX was the Wallace which had a vertical sign. It can be seen in the photograph posted of the main street of Seagraves at the PIX site.

I lived in Seagraves in the Forties and early Fifties. I do not remember a “Rose” Theater. Only the Wallace and the PIX which were at opposite ends of the same block.

I was only in the Wallace Theatee once when there was a fund-raising auction for the local school where my parents taught. The theater in the late forties and early fifties was the Hispanic/Black theater and whites did not go there. The films were usually Mexican comedies and were usually only shown on weekends.

As a small child in the late forties, I spent every Saturday afternoon sitting in the PIX watching Roy Rogers and other Western Cowboys films and the Superman, etc., weekly serial episodes which ran as pre-movie shorts. It was a different time and at the other end of the block was the WALLACE which was the theater where Hispanic and Black films were projected usually on weekends during cotton harvesting months when seasonal workers were in the area.
