This theatre was run by Golden Theatres in the 70’s & 80’s. The throw was only about 250 feet. The actual auditorium was gutted and incorporated into the condos. Only the lobby was razed. Golden Theatres stopped operating this theatre when they acquired the Oceana Theatre in Brighton Beach.
This theatre was never run by Golden Theatres. It was run by an independent in the 70’s and 80’s named Max Schiering, but was owned by United Artists. When Schierings lease was up UA would not renew it, and closed the theatre so it would not compete with the UA Marboro on nearby Bay Parkway
Worked at the “GRANADA THEATRE” Brooklyn, NY in 1972. Your listing incorrectly says it did not have a balcony, it did. Before it was taken over by Golden Theatres, it was run for years by Max Scheiring. I believe it was built by “Cinema 5” Theatres.
I believe the correct name of this theatre was the “ASTOR”. It stood next to Erasmus Hall High School.
