•
1983 Oct 28: When Westdale Mall Cinema II showed “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” local fans of the cult film that spoofs old monster movies showed up in costume for the event. Admission to “Rocky Horror,” which played in Cedar Rapids for six weekends this fall, was $3, as opposed to the usual $3.75 fare. And while employees are allowed to search goodie bags for foods and other articles not normally allowed in the theater, they "can’t make a girl open a purse,” Paar said.
Cinema employee Mike Walker was less than enthusiastic about the movie and the items thrown at the screen. Walker noted average cleanup time following a movie was generally only about an hour.He said it took six hours to clean up after fans departed "Rocky Horror.”
