I first saw BTTF when I rented it on vhs at a local library. It was a movie ahead of its time and original. It was The Time Machine but instead of a boxy machine it was a car, and a junky one. I then saw part II and III, which were okay but not as good as the first one. I now own all three on DVD. I’ve seen the cartoon when it was on CBS and was good. This film elevated michael j. fox to stardom beyond what he had done in family ties. After the trilogy was over, he starred in another tv show called spin city and then dealt with parkinson’s disease, which he still does. He then created a foundation in honor of that and still supports curing for the disease.
Very interesting article. When it opens, it will be the closest Cinemark near the New York Metro area and maybe have an XD screen. This would be the first time my Dad goes to this theater near the mall.
I think this is just in time for Last Airbender (a 3D conversion) and Despicable Me (created by computer and done for 3D), not to mention the sequel to Cats and Dogs (which played at the old Rockaway) in fake 3D. I read that Clash of the Titans 2 will be true 3D. Toy Story 3 was a true 3D movie and made good use of it for realism rather than for gimmicks. Once the price of 3DTVs go down to where they become affordable, attendance for 3D movies might slow down as people enjoy 3D gaming, sports, movies, and perhaps the news!!!
PeterApruzzese, you should check out AMC’s 3-D preshow. It’s pretty cool. It might be annoying in 3D but it’s worth watching and it’s quite short. Too bad there are no local ads in 3d lol. Like the feature presentation and previews, the preshow is shown in reald 3d/ sony 4k although the sound is in stereo rather than surround sound.
At what point in june will the theater go all digital? Looks like it’s mostly 3D and liemax movies playing at this theater right now, slimshady, with the other screens showing 35mm film.
getting into the theater’s parking lot can be a bit trickier than at the AMC in Rockaway. Not only there’s theater parking, but parking also shares with Shop-Rite and other retailers and traffic can be a hassle, with minor accidents that happen rarely. A simple way that my Dad takes me there is to take Route 517 off Route 80 (Exit 19), go south bound towards Allen Rd passing Route 46 and the streets that surround Centenary College, make a left, then make a right onto the parking lot just before Route 57 and find some ample parking. This is much faster than taking 46 to the 182/57 intersection that sometimes gets backed up.
Just came back from seeing Toy Story 3 in RealD 3D. It was worth enjoying in 3D. Even the Preshow had a 3D section which was kinda cool. The only thing that wasn’t in 3D was the trailer for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which I won’t spend my money on. The short that played before the movie was also funny, mixing 2-D figures alongside a 3-D background.
As for this weekend, Avatar is just $1,000,000 shy of breaking the $750 million mark, and that number could increase to $800 million if the re-release does well. I doubt that would happen due to the film being out on bluray and dvd for a limited time before the extended version comes out later this year.
Yesterday, Toy Story 3 broke a box office record for opening day of a Pixar film…$40 million. I hope it makes $100+ million based on good word of mouth, ensuring a lengthy run in theatres. As for that other big movie I’m looking forward to, Inception, some of it was shot in 4k.
According to AMC’s movietickets website….the movie plays 10-15 minutes after the advertised showtime (most of it trailers). The pre-show is actually a 20 minute preshow that Regal used to employ until NCM brought it to other chains including AMC/Loews. Not only that, but before that and after the movie’s over, there’s animated slides. The digital preshow uses standard def widescreen projectors rather than the 4k/2k projectors used for films. Maybe if AMC uses the 4k for the entire process would ads look better.
according to Dolby’s website, Dolby Surround 7.1 is not at this theater. Hopefully they’ll update the sound systems as the digital conversion becomes reality in the fall for the rest of the screens.
