Floyd Theatres must have been a lot like Martin Theatres in Georgia,they pretty much had locations all over the Peach State.

Nyozoner,you are right about the plywood and such,but I came upon a Drive-in in a Flordia that had Sheets strung up and Showed movies in what seem to be a pasture,they collected admission,showed 16mm movies off Batteries,sold Concessions and stayed in business a few years.I put it on CT.I will try and find the name so you can read about,if you haven’t already spotted it.NDiMaggio a good friend, was also puzzled by the Bill Alderman Drive-in.

We have a pretty good size Indian population here in Augusta,Ga. Surprized someone here hasn’t reopened a few Closed theatres,some with everything Still in there.Maybe you have to live in a larger city to make any Money off Indian movies?

I just dropped my Daughter off to see “ GREEN HORNET” I told her it would most likely be empty,can’t blame AMC.I never thought it would do business to begin with and I guess it wasn’t in 3-D.

I was serching in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac and NO drive-ins are listed in Buffalo.They must have had a small city limits and all the Drive-ins were in nearby towns?

Noticing the Gum on the floor reminds me when we would scrape Gum from the outside entrance into National Hills Theatre.Of Course, that was in 1974 when Theatres gave a dang.

NY,you could be right,but in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac[which i have found out from CT members to be not 100% correct]Has both Drive-ins listed.I was in an old Closed Theatre years ago and wished I would have Grabbed every Almanac there,I am sure they are in a Landfill now.

mjprigge,From 1956 Motion picture Almanac this is the Milwaukee Board Members: Mrs.C Buckland,Vice President.Mrs.E.V. Kluckow,Treasurer, Herbert Drissen,ExecutiveSecretary.This board was created in 1913 by a Act of the State Legislature. There nine members and twenty-five aides. Suppose to be a representative group from Milwaukee’s population.

Milwaukee had a Better Films Council Mrs.Fred Rosenkranz,Pres. 4121 West 83rd St.Milwaukee,Wis.{no zip code on those days,1956}.

Blue Laws repealed in 1933 concerning Sunday showings.Hopes this Helps.Other CT members may have more to add.

thanks Dick W. for the added info, most Towns of any size pretty much did this; in Augusta two TV stations did the same thing in the Sixties at the Imperial.Hope Nick spots it one day.
