In fact, according to AMC, it will be on the ETX screen.
Dolby is installing its new Atmos system in this theater for Disney’s Brave 3D movie, becoming one of the first theaters in the world to be equipped with 62.2 surround sound. I guess it will be on the AMC ETX screen. Makes sense, because that auditorium (which is the second largest besides the Imax)has the ability to deliver multiple speakers.
ETX Screen now installed this past weekend with “Hunger Games”. What auditorium was it fitted in? How is the quality of the picture and sound?
This theater will be one of several AMCs to show back-to-back Marvel movies featuring characters from the upcoming movie “The Avengers” in a marathon that ends with the midnight showing of the 3D version. Most of the marvel movies that are 3d were converted rather than shot. http://bit.ly/zbxvKG
Star Wars Episode I is back in Paramus, only this time in converted 3D. This is the second time that Star Wars Episode I has been shown digitally in Paramus, even though it was the last Star Wars film shot on 35mm film before Lucas became one of the first big directors to convert to digital 1080p cinematography.
This year in May marks 5 years since the theater opened as part of the mall’s 50th anniversary expansion project. As of this year, nothing is planned. Look at how 5 years have passed. This theater was the second in Paramus to have digital projection for full use early in its cycle, then one of its screens became a Liemax. Its predecessor has become a large fitness gym. This is one of the better AMCs in NJ, better than Rockaway.
Wimbledon Women’s Finals will be playing in 3D at this theater, the only one in NJ, on July 2 at 9 a.m.
Yeah, I have to agree, who needs the 50000watts when the IMAX already pulverizes all the bones in your body and leaves your ears ringing for days. So many theaters are way to loud already as it is. And I hate the ones where the treble is way high and the loud parts basically make you wince in pain. Not a good experience. At home, with amazing, really expensive speakers without so many spectrum spikes it doesn’t hurt even when it’s set fairly loud. Most theaters it just kills your ears. Just too piercing and too loud. It actually makes me go less when they overdo it.
Yeah the problem with this theater is the hideous Rt4/R17 location.
I really enjoy this theater. This is my choice theater. But I will ever only go during the week, on matinees. I hate the mall, and the traffic. Got to see quite a few films, on opening day, at 9:30Am with just about 30 people in the auditorium.
For those who have sensitive ears, that could be a problem, MarkNYLA. I might as well see Tron Legacy in the cheaper RealD 3D format, which has normal surround sound.
ETX has a 50,000 watt sound system, compared to the 12,000 watt system of IMAX? Here’s the thing about that: the 12,000 watt system is already ear-splitting loud. The presentation of *TRON: Legacy * in the AMC Garden State IMAX theater #2 is deafening as it is, the auditorium sound bleed is severe and the structural rumble and vibration is intrusive and annoying. Why on earth do you need another 38,000 watts of sound?
I checked AMC’s ETX website (http://www.amctheatres.com/etx) and there’s no mention of ETX in Paramus. The closest theater is in Times Square. What’s holding back on the ETX, Slimshady?
yeah but ETX’s sound system is really good. 50000Watss compare to IMax’s 12000Watt. Though image might not be good but that sound system will shake you up
I agree. Paranormal Activity 2 was shot on HD cameras and will be blown-up IMAX-style on the big screen using IMAX’s infamous DMR process, which I saw with Inception at the AMC in Rockaway and thought was a bit blurrier than a normal digital presentation.
ETX is almost as pointless as digital IMAX, I saw Fredrick Wiseman’s Boxing Gym on the ETX in Toronto (granted not a highly visual action picture that requires thumping base) but it is just that: a large screen with a good sound system. For the most part AMC Garden State offers that without paying an upgrade fee. Of coarse the worst thing is that AMC now charges $12 and soon Clearview will think they can for their crappy discount house quality Bergen County theaters – Tenafly which is downright awful in terms of comfort and projection is now $11.50! (two new stadium seating theaters in Northern New Jersey do a better job for an adult price of $10)
I can’t wait for this weekend when I get to experience the high quality clarity that IMAX was made for with Paranormal Activity 2: An IMAX Experience. If there was ever a movie requiring a high definition image it’s Paranormal Activity 2.

Ticket prices have gone up dramatically since this theater opened….prime ticket is $12, a $1 more than Rockaway.
i agree….i sat in the middle of an IMAX screen in Rockaway and saw the pixels floating around the screen. Good thing Rockaway will have digital projection that’s higher res than digital IMAX (4k vs 2k) in all of its screens.
The IMAX here is one of the least immersive and underwhelming I’ve seen. The screen isn’t wall to wall as they’re are two access corridors to the exits behind the screen. They did remove the first two rows and installed a sound system, but Garden State already had large screens, judging by the throw of the room I’m willing to bet the picture isn’t much larger in Theater 2 than it is in 3 and 5, equally as large across the hallway.
To simulate the experience of seeing Hubble 3-D in a “classic” IMAX I decided to sit closer than I normally would – to my astonishment I could see the pixels on screen. I’m not impressed with digital IMAX and would feel even more screwed I think had I paid an upgrade fee for a 2-D feature.

it’s all digital except for one screen, which is still 35mm. Salt is currently playing in film.

At what point in june will the theater go all digital? Looks like it’s mostly 3D and liemax movies playing at this theater right now, slimshady, with the other screens showing 35mm film.
