markp - that is great news! Can’t wait to see this on a bigger screen! Hope folks come to see THE summer blockbuster. Keep film alive as well! This will be my first time watching anything in 70mm here. NYC theaters have great 70mm programs this summer.
Dan The Man yes I have been hired once again to run the 70MM. My partner Rich is again with me. We are going in on July 13 to check out the equipment and do some test runs. Tuesday we will most likely load and run the movie thru. We may be asked to help out at Cherry Hill, but that remains to be seen. I hope to give you another 100% perfect presentation.
markp - Will you be running The Odyssey in 70mm here? I was talking to an employee here and they said there are specialists coming in to check the health of the projector and see if it needs to be fixed. AMC Cherry Hill 24 is the only other NJ theater possibly running it in 70mm. Do you have any additional info? Otherwise NYC will be playing this in 70mm, as well in 35mm and IMAX 70MM

2 top notch, experienced projectionists projected almost 4 miles of film each time, including using a platter, of Oppenheimer, in regular 70mm (not IMAX) daily, starting July 21, last day Sept 21. A total of 224 shows. 4 shows Friday thru Sunday, 3 shows the other days. First 6 weeks the times were 8:45 AM, 12:45 PM, 4:45 PM, 8:45 PM. And 12:30 PM 4:30 PM. 8:30 PM. Final 3 weeks were 9:30 AM, 1:15 PM, 5:00 PM 8:45 PM. And Noon, 4:00 PM 8:00 PM. Some days Mark Joseph Pusillo was the projectionist. Other days Rich Rettino.
Oppenheimer has been showing in 70mm in auditorium 15, with about 290 seats and a nice large screen that appears to be about 35 feet wide. For those interested, auditorium 5 sits about 485 and has a huge screen that appears to be 60 feet wide.
Joshua Bilmes, yes that would be this past saturday. Glad I gave you a great presentation.
they took the seats out.
Right now more accurately a 15 screen, since the VR area built in the Theatre 1 space doesn’t appear to be a thing any more,
So I guess I got to see markp in the booth when I did my Barbenheimer on Saturday. Glad there is still a 70mm screen in Paramus, which was the closest place for it to where I grew up. Couldn’t believe how immense the Dolby Cinema screen is for a flat movie. Fifty feet tall? Sixty? Huge.
JB1981, I am not there on thursday. I am in Rahway running 35MM Saturday Night Fever. The picture and sound was great. We did not watch as we had to make sure the print fed off the shipping reel ok. The person who did watch it said its powerful.
How does it look? :)
I have tickets for 5p tomorrow!
Yes I will be running Oppenheimer here. Ran it this morning. Ill be there Fri and Sat, then 2 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off the rest of the run.
Will MarkP be running Oppenheimer in 70mm at this location?
If this place has upgraded to recliners, I doubt it still has 4,900 seats.
Please update, it’s AMC Garden State Plaza 16
the theater is now called amc garden state plaza 16. there’s also a dreamscape vr near the cinema that opened awhile ago.
It could play in 70MM, (cinema 15). Its one of the 3 theatres I run 70MM at. However, I have not heard from Warner Bros about this theatre, or the other 2 in NYC that I cover.
Could tenet play in 70mm here once they reopen in mid july?
what amc should do when they reopen is to improve the regular projectors. Replace the seats. And keep prices stable.
Well whatever the technical cause was, the image was obviously too dark, a common problem at AMC. And Regal.
There’s no “bulb” to turn down in a Laser projector.
Went to see Terminator in laser Imax. It was dark the entire movie including previews. Could see the picture but the bulb was obviously turned down. I went to lobby and told someone, but nothing happened. I hear theaters do this to save on the bulb. I also went to AMC Wayne and as the lights went down, a mouse came running past me. I left. A lousy weekend at AMC theaters!
@Moviebuff why? Rockaway is really far away and doesn’t have IMAX laser
