I also noticed that all the English language movies moved to Place Charest from Ste Foy 14. In the early 1990’s all the English movies were at Place Quebec and Cinéma de paris.

You can find the ad in the Jefferson City Daily Capitol News on page 2
The opening slogan was 4-in-one fun.

what about Cinema Cartier or Le clap in Ste Foy.
Its a shame that a third of the screens disappered this year in the QC area.

This was one of the typical Cineplex Odeon “Jewelbox” theatre built in the late 1980’s.

Typical Cineplex Odeon carpet, the same carpet is used in the Montréal area’s Langelier 6 (now Guzzo) and Cote des Neiges 7 (now Foutune)

The Paramount Montreal sign started to come down on April 24

The theatre is being renamed Cinéma Banque Scotia.

This theatre has closed today. It was the 3rd theatre to be closed by the Cinemas Fortune circuit. It was playing second-run movies in the last year.

* Summer 1982: opened, the theatre had the top selling engagement for “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"
* April 4, 1999 the Boston Globe reports that a new 20 screen complex to replace the 14-plex will be built over 1999-2000. It will have 4,515 seats
* 2000 20-plex completed, old theatre demolished

Drive-Ins.com has the theatre catalogs uploaded. The Cinema can be found in the 1953-1954 edition starting with Page 30.

It was never seen in Canadian theatres as the biggest chain, Famous Players had an pay-tv system called International Telemeter. It was in use 1959-1966 in the Minco bay area of Toronto. This system eventully became Rogers.

There is still an Cinéma Paramount in Rouyn-Norada,QC and an Paramount 3 in Amhurst NS. These were built by Famous Players in the late 1940’s. Also the Paramount in Montreal will be renamed Cinémas Banque Scotia. Theatres in Edmonton SilverCity ?, Paramount in Calgary and Vancouver.

Schmadrian, The Forum has been renamed Pepsi Forum (The AMC cinema inside serves Coke.)

This cinema is going to get harder to find in Internet searches, The Paramounts in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary will be called Scotia Cinema or in Montreal Cinémas Scotia as Cineplex sold the nameing rights to the Bank of Nova Scotia.
