Thanks Rivest I had no clue there was a separate theater there called the Ocean. The three theaters in the Steel Pier in the 60’s-70’s was the Music Hall, Casino and Midway. The Music Hall had a movies followed by a vaudeville show. The Casino had only movies and the Midway had The Tony Grant stars of tomorrow. In 73 Hamid sold the Steel Pier to the guys who owned Million Dollar Pier. They demolished the huge Musical Hall theater to put in International Thrill rides. It was a flop. They moved the stage shows to the Casino and it was not even close to what they had been. Not only did they remove the great screen they had but they put in a small screen that was about the size of a home movie screen. The first year a tropical storm came and destroyed all the rides.

The theater here Carolina Cinemark that has food is very reasonable considering food prices. Also if you are a member you get 20% off plus they have monthly concession coupons. There was another chain here for several years a spin off of Regal called Cinebarre. They had table service and they were reasonable too.
I get what you are saying Regal regular concession prices are ridiculous.
They had gone to triple features in the early 80’s. During the Stanley Warner years, they had no curtains but did have masking which had to be manually opened and closed. When SamEric took it over they added gold drapes over the screen and all on the walls. There was an E on the left curtain.
I had no clue this was an Eric theater. When they triplexes the theater they ruined it by putting a much smaller screen in front of that awesome single screen
The twinning of this theater was terrible. When you went into the balcony theater you walked in right by the screen almost on top of it. They had great curtains and masking prior to twinning. The Sutton was the same thing.
I was manager there in 1983 for one day. When I found out the long hours there was for $225.00 a week I decided to take another job. We were playing Return Of The Jedi than.
Wow I thought they did recliners in the last remodel. I hate the not using masking. We are doing the Regal here but they have raised their prices ridiculous here in Asheville. After this I will stick with Cinemark and Epic. AMC is even worse.

Is it still operated by Floyd Theaters? Also, do they have actual real scope. I hated Floyd theaters because their idea was the screen had to be full all the time so and scope pictures were off the screen. It was so ridiculous
What makes everyone think this theater is closing? For years it was reported that the Cinema 1,2,3 3rd Ave was closing and here it is 20 years later and it’s still open

We have one AMC here in Asheville NC that was a former Carmike Theater. I haven’t been there in years because the GM is a witch. Looked into tickets for last Saturday because it was closer for where I was that day. There prices are $3.00 higher than Regal and Cinemark and our three local chains. Didn’t happen
This theater had 1 brief summer as Talkies. It had always before and after been named the Strand and should be listed here as that.

Do plus the 59th St East and the Manhattan Twin plus the 62nd and 3 Cineplex Oden theater

This is a stupid policy. I refuse to go to the local AMC in my town. This is even more reason not to go
Are they still using the box office? The Regal here is not they haven’t since before the pandemic

Regal and some of these closures listed like this one is ridiculous. This has always been a popular theater except for an issue with rats
I can’t believe this theater doesn’t do well. Same goes for Shadowwoods in Boca
Drive-In 54 Can they actually show scope films in scope on the screen?
Opened by William Goldman to replace the Airport Drive which was demolished for airport expansion.

AsegruB Are you talking about The AMC River Hills Asheville? When they reopened after the pandemic she was still the GM
Saw many great shows here. I didn’t know they closed.
