Remember when the second run ads would look like this and all the neighborhood houses would get the film? I had just become the assistant manager of the Haven when we played this movie along with “North Dallas Forty” as the co-feature.
I remember reading that when MGM re-released GWTW in the 70 mm stereo version they expected it to do well. They never expected though how incredibly successful that reissue would be. The roadshows were extended in most cities. I still have the souvenir program my parents bought me in the lobby.
I guess you could use Proquest, I have looked a lot of things up on there. I have 2 filing cabinets of ads from when I was in the business, and as a kid I also used to cut out the ones for all the movies I saw. I have being photocopying a lot of them and then putting them on disk thats why they don’t look too yellow anymore.
The Loew’s Circuit transferred control of the Alpine to Golden Theatre Management circa 1985, Does anyone know when Cineplex Odeon took over to run the Alpine?

A year ago when I talked about Golden managing theatres including the Olympia, people said they were only a booking agent. I knew they ran theatres too.
In regards to this possibly becoming a Jerry Lewis Cinema, were many in that chain converted from regular theatres? I was under the impression that they were all new constructions?
I’m sure the hand written dates on these clips are off slightly because when the print of “Modern Times” was seized they threw in a show of Chaplin & W.C. Fields shorts.
Incidently “Modern Times” was doing great grosses, when they seized the print there were 450 people in the theatre on a week night.

In the late 60’s this was showing X, it may have been soft core?
I show ads that this was already running X in 1968.
I detest theatres named after streets.
Did Cineplex put curtains in here like all the other places they re-did?

April of 1959 the Inwood was presenting “Birth of a Nation” and “The Great Train Robbery”.

This place will be closing next.
A few years before this was torn down they painted the front to look like an old movie theatre and added a lot of flowers painted along the bottom.
