Yes, Joe, the theatre was opened until the fire of April 17th. I have a picture from the Corydon Democrat showing the fire in progress with the marquee on the ground which I’ll have to scan and upload. I, too, have a photo of the theatre showing Comanche Territory from the Democrat which I’ll also upload. Incidentally native son James Best was featured in that movie. I’ll also upload a photo of the interior, an image of the first Dream and a number of newspaper advertisements.
Dallas you have left a thread dangling. When I went to Frisco to see the followup on the Queen which was to have been opened there using the equipment and signage from this Queen I found nothing.
dallasmovietheaters you have mentioned four theaters in Missouri Valley yet only the Rialto is on Cinema Treasures. Since you seem to know all about them how about putting them on CT. At that time it would be appropriate to put the photo of the Majestic which is on the Rialto site where it belongs.
According to the agenda for tonight’s Great Neck Plaza trustees meeting the matter of the Playhouse demolition is to be tabled until the March 14th meeting. On and on. Delays without resolution. If this continues like the plans for the Lynbrook it will be 2030 or so before anything happens.
The index of materials physically at Hofstra includes other than those listed by theatrefan. I remember that Calderone’s Strand in Hempstead was listed. Perhaps there is something on the Lynbrook. Always wanted to get there to take a photo of the Strand image to put on CT.

Theater mentioned, but not by name, in a February 21, 2016 Long Island Newsday article about a wartime romance.
I think the whole business of recliners is ridiculous. Just give me a good movie at a reasonable price.

In the 1937-1939 period there was also an upgrade of the theater adding steel beams to strengthen the balcony, new seats and a new facade and marquee.
