Here is the ad for the first Premiere Showcase in 1962 that would destroy the movie business as it had been for the first 50 years. I also blew up the list of those first showcase theatres which were to improve on the next few showcases. View link
It’s not the greatest copy but here is the ad from the Electronovision version of “Hamlet”. It seems to have opened on Broadway at the RKO Palace. Look how they tried to make it classy by playing it twice a day even in the burbs.
This theatre was in the middle of the block with stores on both sides. Except for the showcases I dont think there was room for any brick work. I remember your posting talked about a parking lot, the Little Neck did not have one.
Of note about the Saint. It was the largest gay disco in New York at the height of gay liberation, pre-AIDS. It closed when AIDS hit hard but they did keep the place open 24 hours one night a week. The Saint was gutted and turned into an 8-theater complex, known as the Loew’s Octoplex

I remember those speakers, the Haven had them until we put in Dolby in the 80’s.
Did anything ever stand in that cove on the roof like a statue? It’s very interesting is it lit at night?

Here is the double bill discussed above of Patton & Mash at the UA Ridgewood. Does that mean Patton played the Madison the first go around?

I can’t believe all we have lost this year. Will it stop? The city is becoming nothing but steel and glass.
Most of my ads are from New York but here is one from an American International double bill playing the Hollywood.
