Please correct your desciption, New York Cinemas (owners of Cinema Studio and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas) ran the Metro Theatre. They made that theatre a twin with only one auditorium Dolby Stereo.. Clearview took the theatre over from Cineplex Odeon after they were force to sell some theatres off when they merge with Loews.. I enclose a ad with NYC owning the theatre
The Sunrise Multiplex Cinemas which open the same time in 1979, when they added screens, it was a long walk to Theatre 14. The refreshment area was by screens 3 and 4 in 1979, which became screens 6 and 7 in 1987. The sad thing about National Amusements, they didn’t care about us watching films down long narrow auditoriums when watching scope films, it was horrible.
For example, The Last Emperor which I saw it the Sunrise Cinemas, similar to Amboy, Theatre 11 was horrible, cut up from a 550 seat house which was added in 1982..
At least in the 90, National Amusements got better when building movie theatres, they at least built 12 to 14 screen complexes. Why didn’t they in 1979 build 14 screens from the start. Guess AMC was inventor of more modern complexes.
Please add to description, theatre open on November 13, 1998 and it was opened under United Artists Theatres. This was built by UA and had THX sound in theatre 3. It was branded Regal Cinemas in the mid 2000’s
Theatre opened November 16, 2001 as the UA All Staten Island 16. This building was built by Regal Cinema. Just like the other New York locations, United Artists took full control until they merge with Regal Cinemas. The interior pictures from yelp and google shows it definitely built by Regal Cinemas. In recent years, Regal removed All the name of the theatre. Please update the description.
This theatre opened on May 20, 1987 as a nine plex. It wasn’t 10 screens when it opened, please correct. When the theatre opened, it had 4 screens Dolby Stereo and 1 70MM. In the 1980, United Artists was very cheap in putting Dolby Stereo in their theatres. Half would be MONO. In 1999, theatres 5 and 6 got Ultra Stereo. The location finally got all digital sound in 2002. Sometime in late 2000, United Artists expanded the complex to 14 screens with stadium seating in 12 of the 14 screens. UA closed off sections of theatres 1 to 9 between 2000 and 2002. Each screen lost about 100 seats. Theatres 10 to 14 was added to the complex, with theatres 13 and 14 on the 2nd floor. UA did not make theatres 8 and 9 stadium seating due to the theatres very narrow. The work was completed in the summer of 2002 with a new parking garage next to the theatre. Also the address is 3907 Shore Parkway, that were the original entrance was. Once the work was completed to 14 screens, the entrance is now on Harkness Avenue side.
Please update the history of the theatre. IMAX was added in 2008 and sometime in 2010 or 2011 RPX.
Please update the description, this theatre opened July 14, 2000 the same day as Battery Park 16. This was built by Regal Cinemas. UA took control in 2001 when Regal went bankrupt. It again Regal under the Regal Entertainment Group. It still branded as United Artists.
