Good job Robin.Keep them coming!
Hahaha…I didn’t know his Dad, but I’m glad Bill was there to warn me about him!!!
I will keep checking on the Add A Photo thing…I will add the pictures as soon as it will let me.
I wish there was some way to get Robin’s great pictures up at the beginning of all the comments,so folks would know she has pictures of our ABC THEATRES in Augusta, Thanks Robin.
I liked Chuck Dray alot,I had to find out the hard way about Tom D.. I have just about evrything ready to mail, but the zerox copy of the color picture of the HILLTOP DRIVE-in,didn’t look good so i am going have a color one for you to put on CT and thn you can have copy in color to keep.
Why does that name just keep coming up lately??? Grrrr… LOL
Yeah, I just got to get Robin a better picture of PANTHER, Robin, those are great stories on the HILLTOP; are crying out to be placed on the HILLTOP SITE. I have quite a bit,but i never worked there. The swings you swang on are in EVANS,GA. Tom Dray’s dad as the projectionist there and when hey closed p he took them to his home for his kids.Last time i drove by,the white swings were still upright. If you have any stories from your folks get them on. I know Nick and TSLOEWS are waiting.
Wow! Those are some really great shots of Columbia Square…thanks Robin!! I especially like the National Hills opening day group photo…and the shot of the Imperial with “Closed” being placed on the marquee is very sad. And Mike… your “Revenge Of The Pink Panther” marquee is now immortalized forever on CT!
That’s great Mike! You know my Dad worked at the drive ins before I was born. He had friends in the business forever. I remember going to the Hilltop on some Saturday mornings to play when I was little. I think his name was Harold Ferguson used to let my brothers shoot their bb guns and ride their little motorcycle over there. He would feed us bbq sandwiches at the concession stand. We thought it was so funny cause he put them in hotdog buns. No southern mama ever made sandwiches in hotdog buns! LOL
Jan 7 1982,i have been gone for two years and movies are still playing at COLUMBIA 1 and 2 Theatres. Columbia 1 has the Jane Fonda movie “ROLLOVER” rated R Ms.Fonda only had a few movies to play there. second run on “COMING HOME” second run on “THE CHINA SYNDOME” and first run on “NINE TO FIVE”.For the record I was there for the first three. Story somewhere above on Dog in booth barking during “COMING HOME” Can’t make it up. Columbia 2 is playing a very good “ABSENCE OF MALICE”. i want to say this movie opened at NationalHills.
TLSLOEWS! when i go to search on STARLITE DRIVE-in It says no results or something like that.
Okay Robin. The pressure is on you! I am sending you a picture of the HILLTOP DRIVE-in[one of your favorites] WEIS drive-in.Skyview DRIVE in and the DANIEL VILLAGE. And Southgate Cinema if i can find it.
You are doing a great service to these lost and often forgotten pieces of Augusta History.
The picture of the Box Office at the IMPERIAL I am making two copies one for me,and the IMPERIAL THEATRE said they would love a copy. I will have them in the mail.
It’s not hard work Mike and I don’t mind doing it. Black and white pictures should be ok…after I scan them I try to edit them to make them look the best I can. Sometimes it helps a lot.
Good, i will make a few copies and send RObin a gift card for all her work and i guess NIck Too.
Black and White would be alright.
I am looking at my marquee AGAIN. I got some to send pictures from All our theatres. Do you think Black and white would look okay, because it would be cheaper to copy. Like us dressing up playing the MARX BROTHERS on a double feature of the MARX Brothers.

Your the MAN MIKE! Like your Red Jacket. You spell good too.
Those are MY MARQUEES. No one did them BUT ME. I got a good one “REVENGE OF THE PINK PANTHER” if i can talk Robin into putting another on. I am still staring at them.
