By the way this theatre never had an organ or stage as is posted above it was built just for movies,we did have an 8-track player that we would play intermission music on, Man that was high-teck!We did have great Voice of the Theatre speakers and good amps really good sound, never had any complaints except for not being loud enough for some concert movies we showed, which we would turn up much to the dismay of the Union Guys in the booth. This theatre was far from a Movie Palace but I wish it was still around. Many good times in this house.
This is the theatre that Paul Mccartney and them drummer Pete Best set fire to a condom hanging on the concrete wall and got picked up and deported for arson.
According the Nashville Public Television this Tony Sudekum Crescent Amusement Co. theatre was built in 1907 on 5th,Avenue next to the Arcade Nashvilles first Mall that opened in 1903 and it still there,so the address in this heading could be wrong, there were several theatres built by this company on 5th Ave N. and Church Street over the years the early theatres had a short life span and many moved just a couple of blocks.NPT called it Nashvilles first theatre they may mean movie theatre I know of other theatres Leget that opened before then.
Thanks Ken Roe,Thanks for this listing I have been looking for it.In the movie Backbeat there are scenes showing this theatre or what looks like it from the photos I have scene.
