The movie listed on the marquee was released in 1963, so the photo would have been taken at a later date than 1950.

Phone not working and no movie times listed anywhere. Also, the June 2014 Google Street View shows the theatre for sale. Probably closed.

With Marcus opening the Palace in Sun Prairie and upgrading the nearby Point, this multiplex seems to be struggling. Was here for a matinee last week and was the only person in the auditorium. They are holding onto movies longer and also showing a mix of indie and Bollywood films. Never a good sign.

In the 50’s and 60’s, the burlesque houses in downtown Chicago ran movies between live shows. Actually, a pretty common practice in most cities.

Went here last night. There are leather recliners in all the auditoriums now, making for a comfortable experience. Major remodeling is going on with the addition of more food and beverage options. The restrooms could use a little more work as well.

We went here last night to see the “Avengers” movie. The layout of the theatre is very compact and easy to navigate. Once past the lobby, the orientation is like a dogbone. The standard auditoriums are clustered on the north end, the Ultra Screen in the middle, and the Bistros, where food is served are on the south end. Each auditorium has a monitor which shows the availability of seats for the upcoming showing. There were only 4 single seats open for our show, essentially a sell-out.

Entering the lobby, to the right are the ticket counters and kiosks where pre-purchased tickets can be accessed. Straight ahead, the concession stand, and to the left, a lounge/restaurant. There is also an outside patio for dining and drinking, which has a firepit. Most welcome on cool nights.

The movie experience was pleasant and comfortable in those leather recliners.
