Can any one explane the diferance between signs,an example the Orential has a vertical sign that says “ORIENTAL” and it also has a sign that is over the sidewalk i know that this is the marquee but what is the name of the sign when it looks like the sign for the woods at the start of this page?I know that the woods had a marquee but what is the proper name of the “square sign” on top of the marquee. Is this concedered a true “Vertical Sign” or not.?
Thank you for your time on the question.
I think the confusion with this theatres address is that their are 2 ways of getting to this theatre their is a way in on LaGrange Road and a “back door” on i think Joleit Road. If you are driving down LaGrange Road look for the entrance by the Pep Boys and turn left go all the way to the back it is below the shopping center down in the back. Or you can turn left whare Joliet Road and LaGrange Road cross turn left by the Chevy dealer go all the way past the target and turn right past the Menards and you will see it i think on the right side. Thank you for your time. :)

If i am correct the spot whare the hiway was is now an auto insurance store and an auto parts store.
I recall this theatre`s sign if i am right it was like each letter was in a circle and it spelled out hiway.
The church in fact did close, eather side of 63rd street have ben developed the land whare the Lawn was is now owned by the Chicago Police Department it is a parking lot for the 8th dist. Chicago Lawn
station and facing across the street is the new H.Q for the 8th dist. i rember this theatre it (at the time of demolition)was to be a Chicago Fire Station i rember this buld as being a white buld also if i remmber it was in disuse and repare when it was torn down and it was being used a some kind of a church.
Just went by today the buld. is still standing in fact it is of all things, an auto parts store if you stand across the street you can see the out line of a theatre and where a sign would be and a box office. But as i have said before it is still standing and it is now being used as an auto parts store the area around 47th and Western is more Mexican then Irish now. The buld. is a little brown or rust colored if you are not looking for the address you will walk right past it. I am glad that it is still standing and the bulding is serving the community. Thank you for your time :)
