The Gaelic opened in 1914, seating under 300, and located in the Brighton Park neighborhood on 47th Street at Western Avenue. The name of the theater reflects the fact that when the theater opened, the neighborhood had a large Irish population.
The Gaelic Theater closed by the 1950s. The building still stands, and is today used as an auto parts store.

I believe the building, though very rundown, was still in existence as a commercial property 5 or 6 years ago.Minus the marquee of course. Very Sad.

Just went by today the buld. is still standing in fact it is of all things, an auto parts store if you stand across the street you can see the out line of a theatre and where a sign would be and a box office. But as i have said before it is still standing and it is now being used as an auto parts store the area around 47th and Western is more Mexican then Irish now. The buld. is a little brown or rust colored if you are not looking for the address you will walk right past it. I am glad that it is still standing and the bulding is serving the community. Thank you for your time :)
